Alexandria, Va.-based Inova Mount Vernon Hospital has built a new behavioral health unit that will increase the facility's bed capacity by 67 percent, FFX Now reported May 10.
The roughly $10 million unit was made possible by a $4 million donation from Amiya and Jeff Veatch, who founded engineering firm Apex Systems. The unit will be named for them.
The unit will add 20 beds, bringing the hospital's total behavioral health bed count up to 50; private rooms; quiet spaces; modernized equipment; and enhanced safety features, like impact-resistant windows and drywall.
