US cities with highest, lowest suicide rates

Casper, Wyo., is the city with the highest suicide rate in the U.S., according to financial website WalletHub.

The data is part of WalletHub’s research in ranking the “Happiest Cities in America” for 2023. The study evaluated 180 of the largest cities in the U.S. on 30 indicators of happiness, including depression rate, income growth rate and average amount of leisure time per day. 

The following are the cities with the highest and lowest suicide rates, in ranking order. 

Highest

1. Casper, Wyo.

2. Rapid City, S.D.

3. Juneau, Alaska

4. Billings, Mont.

5. Colorado Springs, Colo.

 

Lowest

1. Newark, N.J.

2. Jersey City, N.J.

3. New York City

4. Columbia, Md.

5. Yonkers, N.Y.
