Teladoc has acquired virtual mental health provider UpLift in a $45 million deal.

According to an April 30 news release, UpLift will continue to be led by current CEO Kyle Talcott.

Purchase, N.Y.-based Teladoc has owned BetterHelp, a direct-to-consumer virtual mental health platform, since 2015. In 2024, the company said it would shift the business to accept insurance coverage, facing steep customer-acquisition and advertising costs.

In the first quarter of 2025, total revenue for BetterHelp was down 11% year over year, and paying-user revenue was down 4%.

UpLift operates a network of more than 1,500 mental health providers, and contracts with health plans covering more than 100 million people. Teladoc acquired UpLift in an all-cash transaction for $30 million, with another $15 million in earnouts possible, according to the news release.

UpLift’s 2024 revenue was $15 million.
