The approval, announced Sept. 12, makes New Hampshire the 20th state to expand community-based mental healthcare under a new Medicaid option developed by the American Rescue Plan.

This amendment secures Medicaid funding for various services, including mobile crisis response planning, patient referrals to specialized services or ongoing support, and follow-up visits. As a result, Medicaid beneficiaries in crisis now have access to behavioral health providers 24/7, 365 days a year.
