The emPATH — Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing — unit is the first of its kind in the state, according to a Jan. 24 news release. The 1,800-square-foot unit is currently able to treat up to six patients and has room to expand to treat eight patients.
Overlook aims to remove behavioral emergency patients out of the emergency department to put them on a better path to recovery, reduce wait times in the emergency department and reduce the need for inpatient hospitalization.
