A plan to convert former Kennewick (Wash.) General Hospital into a bicounty mental health and drug treatment center fell through after an agreement couldn’t be reached on length-of-stay restrictions, the Tri-City Herald reported June 15.
The owners of the facility said they would only agree to the sale if county officials “severely restricted” how long psychiatric patients could be treated at the location.
County officials still expect to buy the former hospital for $1.6 million but have yet to settle on its new purpose. They are also looking for a new location for the mental health drug and treatment center.
